"Shockley Foundation" was established by writer/director/actor Edgar J. Shockley III. It was made in honor of Edgar J. Shockley Jr and Alice L. Shockley-Godwin. (Edgar Joseph Shockley Jr. was the first Black Master Plumber in New Jersey, Massachusetts and co-founder for the Contractors Association of Boston to assist the achievement of others life's dream. Alice L. Shockley-Godwin left as a "colored girl " in Virginia to become the first of her family to graduate higher education with thirty-plus years as a registered nurse and supervisor at Philadelphia General Hospital.)
Mission: Offer unrestricted financial aid in the form of materials for artists of exceptional abilities and demonstrated selflessness dedication to humanity.
How: Each year "Shockley Foundation" begins with a book. It then does singers with new songs, a play, a radio-play and finally either dance, television or film work. The idea is to get the actors, techs, teachers and directors better jobs plus do something important for "the world. " ("Shockley Foundation" will continue for each part as long as it has enough for that original year's grant. Each year it will begins again.)
